SONG SET FOR RETURN NEXT WEEK

The arrival in Rotterdam of Shinji Ono and Chong-Gug Song means that everyone is back after the winter break as Feyenoord prepare for the second half of the season. Song was unable to join the group Tuesday because he’s still feeling the effects of an ankle injury picked up last month, but the Korean did confirm that his return is looming. Fresh-faced and raring to go, Song declared, ‘I’ll be back with the squad next week.’

Doctor Van Linschoten is satisfied with the Korean international’s progress. ‘The ankle is healing, but it isn’t a hundred percent yet, although he is making progress. Song will receive treatment this week inside and we hope he’ll be able to rejoin the squad in the Canaries.’ A second patient, keeper Carlo l’Ami, is set for a four-week layoff. ‘Carlo is not in pain,’ according to Van Lindschoten. ‘And he is healing very well, but football is not yet possible. The burden on the shoulder is too great for a keeper at the moment.’
