BRETT’S GETTING IT TOGETHER AGAIN

Brett Emerton is a happy man, after his teammates showed the tenacity to put defeat in the Champions League behind them and kickstart their season Sunday in Eidhoven. ‘This was the most important game of the year for us. Now we’re only a point behind PSV and we’re back on course in the league,’ the Aussie told the Feyenoord website. ‘In any case it’s important that we hold onto this form in the coming weeks.’

Emerton feels the optimism radiated at the start of the season has returned to the club after the slaying of PSV. ‘Confidence is growing. We have to keep it up in the next game.’ The socceroo’s partnership with Korean Chong-gug Song down the right also appears to be returning to the level achieved in the first games the two played together in. It certainly gave PSV a headache. ‘We haven’t done anything special. The coach gave us a task and we carried it out. We were playing quite defensively, but we also had chances. Me too, and I maybe should have put it away.’
