SEB RULED OUT IN KIEV

Confirmation has come that Sebastian Pardo will play no part in Feyenoord’s first round Champions League game in Ukraine this evening after the Chilean fell ill. While the squad went for a stroll in Kiev Wednesday morning Pardo was tucked up in his hotel room bed. Robin van Persie is expected to fill the vacancy on the left wing.

‘Sebastian was ill when we arrived,’ Bert van Marwijk explained. ‘He missed lunch and went straight to his room. I left the decision to train up to him. He opted to join up with the group. And things well quite well in training. But he was not right this morning. Sebastian looked bad at breakfast, so I just sent him off to bed. The lad is very ill. I even wonder whether he’ll be able to take a place in the stand this evening. If he isn’t, he’ll just have to stay in the hotel. It’s a pity, but that’s how it is.’
