BUFFEL’S 'MISSION ACCOMPLISHED'

Thomas Buffel came through his second international with his reputation in tact after Belgium grabbed a 1-0 win against Estonia. Buffel pounced on a dropped ball by home keeper Poom to furnish teammate Sonck with a tap in after just two minutes. ‘Everyone is satisfied and I think that’s justified. We’ve taken all six points this week in two away fixtures. Mission accomplished then,’ said a content Buffel, talking exclusively to feyenoord.nl.

The game was much more palatable than Saturday’s stodgy dish in Andorra. ‘We had more room and we were able to use it to show that we can play some good football,’ Buffel said at Tallinn airport. ‘The result was good too and I’m happy that I’ve been able to fulfil some of the high expectations. The coach even called me a ray of hope in Belgian football. We now have a rest from international commitments and that’s a good thing because Feyenoord is approaching a very busy period.'
