CHONG-GUG SONG ARRIVES IN ROTTERDAM

The final piece in this year’s Feyenoord jigsaw touched down at Schiphol Thursday afternoon after a 12-hour longhaul from Seoul as Chong-gug Song arrived in the company of his brother, his sister-in-law and seven cases, one holding an electric guitar In his pocket Song had the papers that say he can play in Holland and the 23-year-old is available for selection immediately, although he will have to undergo a test to gauge his physical condition.

The Korean was officially welcomed at the airport by technical director Rob Baan, the man who managed to secure Song’s signature on a five-year deal, despite interest from the English Premiership and PSV. 'I’ve got to know Song as a very disciplined and determined footballer,' Baan said. 'He can play in several positions on the right side. Anyone who saw the World Cup knows about the lad’s qualities to some extent. I am very confident that he will improve Feyenoord. From now on it’s up to him to justify that confidence.' Rob Baan was not the only one at Schiphol to welcome Song and his entourage. A deputation of the player’s brand spanking new Dutch fan club greeted their idol with flowers, a special banner and much waving of flags. Song posed for photos with his admirers and the contingent of Korean photographers who travelled with him to Holland.
