LURLING RED CARD WILL HAVE NO STING

INNSBRUCK – Anthony Lurling was ordered off in the last minute of last night’s game against Kaiserslautern for an alleged rule-breaking challenge on Thomas Riedl. Television evidence clearly showed that there was no contact, but the intention was there. 'It was stupid of me and in the league I wouldn’t let myself be provoked,’ said Lurling after the game, 'but the guy said some very nasty things to Kalou.'

The atmosphere was not exactly friendly in the Alpen Cup match-up between Feyenoord and Kaiserslautern. 'Those guys were going down for any little thing and that is irritating. At one point I was shown yellow, while I didn’t even touch the guy. Kalou said something about it and then their number 23 said a couple of unpleasant things about the colour of Bona’s skin,’ explained Lurling. ‘I cannot stand that sort of thing, so I thought: I have to do something about that. I’d have never done it in an important game and luckily I didn’t make contact in the end, but he would have deserved it. Thankfully the red card won’t have any consequences... or will I miss the Spijkenisse game?'
