LURLING PASSES FIRST REAL TEST

INNSBRUCK – After the amateurs of Lekkerkerk, Hamburg SV was the first real test for Feyenoord in general and Anthony Lurling in particular and Lurling didn’t disappoint. Taking over from one of the stars of last season, Jon Dahl Tomasson, was a big ask, but the new acquisition showed that he was up to the job. 'But I have to have a lot more eye for the goal,’ Lurling admitted after the game.

'Nil nil against a HSV that’s been in training for three or four weeks is a good result. It’s a pity we aren’t going to win the tournament because of a penalty shootout, but we can be satisfied.' Anthony was able to look back on a fine personal performance just off the pace at the front. 'Obviously I’m not the same player as Tomasson, I have to have the ball, but it went well.' The team as a whole is still getting to know each other of course. ‘You have to understand that we still have to get used to each other. The final ball isn’t always great, but we are spending a huge amount of time on that in training.'
