INNSBRUCK - Brian Pinas and Thomas Buffel made the short switch from Excelsior early this summer together and both have shown promise in their first few weeks at Feyenoord. Buffel grabbed four goals against Lekkerkerk and Pinas struck twice in the same game. But HSV is a much tougher nut and though Buffel was reasonably impressive, Pinas disappointed.

The Rotterdammer didn’t hide his dissatisfaction after the game. 'It’s only a warmup, but I’d hoped to show what I can do today.' Brian Pinas started well and even had a chance to open the scoring within two minutes, only to see his effort palmed away by Hamburg keeper Pieckenhagen. And that was about it from Brian, because although he made no mistakes he also failed to create anything either. You hope you are ready and can show what you can do, but I couldn’t. I just didn’t get a chance to challenge my opponent and do something with the ball. I was restricted to no-risk balls. It’s all about adjusting to a new task and a new way of playing. I will be working very hard.' Thomas Buffel was much happier. Within minutes of coming on for Pinas on the hour mark, the Belgian started to cause the Germans problems. 'I was able to show a couple of nice things,’ said the modest striker. 'It was a pity I didn’t put away the chance a made for myself. I’m not enough of a killer in those moments. That will come as we progress and get more into the rhythm. I think we can be pleased with the number of chances we created. It’s only our second game.'
