BRIAN PINAS: "THIRD TIME LUCKY!"

The former Excelsior player Brain Pinas has been selected for the Feyenoord squad for the third time. The 23-year-old Rotterdammer didn't fully break through in his last two opportunities, but will now go to the line to make it in the Kuip. "Third time lucky", the left winger tells us, although he knows it will certainly not be easy. "There's a lot of competition, especially for the left wing position, but I've reached the age where it has to happen if I want to succeed at the highest level in the Netherlands."

Luckily for Pinas, he can count on a small lead on the competition. Smolarek and Persie are still injured, and Leonardo is off with Brazil. And Anthony Lurling is certainly capable of playing down the middle," according to a hopeful and animated Pinas "so I think there is definitely a good opportunity. I would never have returned to Feyenoord if I didn't think there was a chance, because I want to play ball. And this is the year it has to happen."
