FEYENOORD SIGNS AUSTRALIAN DUO

Feyenoord secured the signatures of another two bright young Australian prospects this week. Brett Holman and Michael Brown, both eighteen, agreed to join the UEFA Cup holders on a five- and two-year contract respectively. The two Antipodeans arrive in Rotterdam from homeland club Paramatta Power, which also happens to be Brett Emerton’s former employer. The pair will be loaned out to Excelsior for the duration of the coming season.

Brett Holman and Michael Brown are no strangers to Rotterdam. After being watched by Rob Baan in Australia, the two Aussies hooked up with Feyenoord’s youth squad at last month’s International Youth Tournament in the Kuip. Bert van Marwijk and Adri Koster ran the rule over the twosome on that occasion and obviously felt that a gamble was no gamble at all. The player’s signatures were secured with the assistance of Feyenoord old boy Dave Mitchell, the club’s scout in Asia. The players still need to undergo a medical before completing the final formalities. The expectation is that the deal will be wrapped up early July.
