ONO DECLARED FIT TO FACE BELGIUM

Shinji Ono will start for Japan against Belgium on Tuesday despite lingering concerns over abdominal pains which saw him visit hospital last week. The Feyenoord star completed a full training session with Philippe Troussier's team on Monday and is expected to take his place on the right of midfield.

"He is back to his old self," said a Japan Football Association spokesman. "We didn't want to take any risks with him, but there is absolutely no problem with Ono now." The JFA also denied speculation that Ono, 22, would need his appendix removed. The player's problems began when he was substituted in the recent friendly draw with Sweden suffering from stomach pains.
