VOLKSWAGEN NEW FEYENOORD CAR SPONSOR

Feyenoord Chairman Jorien van den Herik and Commercial Director Berend Veenendaal of Volkswagen importer Pon's Automobielhandel B.V recently put their signatures to a contract that makes Volkswagen the club’s new car sponsor. Initially valid till 2005, the deal kicks off at the start of the 2002/2003 season. Volkswagen takes over from Opel, which announced its decision to end its 18-year association with Feyenoord not so long ago.

Volkswagen will sponsor Feyenoord for the next three seasons, with an option for a further two years on top of that. Feyenoord Chairman Jorien van den Herik was understandably excited by the partnership. 'Clearly, we are delighted to have Volkswagen as our new car sponsor. Volkswagen becomes the club superbly and I accordingly express my hope that the agreement we have signed will continue for many, many years to come.' Berend Veenendaal was equally enthusiastic. 'Volkswagen belongs with a genuine people’s club like Feyenoord. Once the opportunity came we quickly reached an agreement. For us it was a chance we just couldn’t pass up. Feyenoord is the most popular club in Holland and we are sure that signing this contract with Feyenoord will give a positive impulse to the image of Volkswagen in this country.' Pon's Automobielhandel B.V. is an authorised Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche importer for the Netherlands.
