Tininho will not be returning to Feyenoord. The Brazilian 'dissident', who failed to return from his holidays in time to hook up with his teammates at the training camp in Maspalomas, will finish out the season on loan at América Belo Horizonte. That signals the termination of Tininho’s tenure in Rotterdam, as the left back’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign and will not be extended.

Tininho opted for América Belo Horizonte as he did not want to continue playing in Feyenoord’s second team. “In terms of pay he is taking a step backwards, of his own volition. He has indicated on the phone to his agent that he does not wish to use Feyenoord like a parasite until the end of the season. It shows the class of Tininho, because it wasn’t his style to just stay away,” said Manager Jan D. Swart, who confirmed that Tininho has now left the club. Tininho arrived in Rotterdam in 1998, and quickly gained a regular place in the starting eleven at left back. However, after a successful debut season, crowned with the championship, he had a sustained dip in form, not helped by a regular run of injuries. The acquisition of Tomasz Rzasa and subsequently Ramon van Haaren pushed Tininho down the pecking order, despite the South American’s enduring work rate. We wish him well in his new challenge.
