NO INTENTION TO SELL BRETT EMERTON THIS SEASON

Jorien van den Herik has stated that Feyenoord ‘has no intention whatsoever of selling Brett Emerton during the winter break.’ The Feyenoord chairman describes the report in the local Rotterdams Dagblad newspaper ‘a shot in the dark’ and says it is annoying that ‘unrest is created unnecessarily in this way’. The article reports that Feyenoord has opened negotiations with Leeds United.

‘A number of English clubs have been in touch with Feyenoord about Emerton through agents,’ says Van den Herik. ‘But we have not entered negotiations with any club. Including Leeds United. It is possible that we will talk if a club asks to talk, that is only usual. But we have no intention whatsoever of letting him go this season. It will have to be a very tempting offer if we are even to consider it for the 2002-2003 season.’
