FEYENOORD COMMITTED TO THE YOUTH OF AFRICA

Feyenoord has reconfirmed its commitment to Africa with the appointment of Nico Labohm (48) as technical director of the new Supersport United Feyenoord Academy in South Africa. Chairman Jorien van den Herik put his signature to a partnership agreement between the two clubs last month to establish a training academy under Feyenoord’s care, offering local youngsters a combination of traditional education and football schooling, along the same lines as the Rotterdam club’s Ghana project.

Nico Labohm has the perfect qualifications and experience for the new challenge in Johannesburg. He has occupied a number of positions at the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) since 1984, including district coach, assistant coach for youth teams and most recently youth coach of Hong Kong as part of the KNVB’s collaboration with the Hong Kong football association. Nico takes up his post on 1 February 2002.
