HEERENVEEN-FEYENOORD, SAT. 1 DECEMBER, 7.30PM

League-leaders Feyenoord came away from the tough examination in Waalwijk midweek with three points, but the Rotterdammers know that they are in for an even harder test in front of a sell-out crowd at Abe Lenstra Stadium Saturday night, when they take on SC Heerenveen. Fifth in the Eredivisie at the moment, the Frisians have already overrun both PSV and Ajax in front of their home fans. The respective 4-1 and 5-1 scorelines leave little to the imagination.

The return of Brett Emerton gives Bert van Marwijk a little more say in his team selection for the first time in weeks. The Australian dynamo is expected to take his place in the starting eleven, with Chris Gyan dropping down to the bench. Kees van Wonderen also looks likely to start after coming through Friday training. With Civard Sprockel unavailable for the trip north, the centre half couldn’t have timed it better. 'Sprockel is suffering from a sore back,' coach Van Marwijk revealed. 'Actually, the lad is suffering all over, because the last couple of weeks have been very demanding. It’s good for him to get some rest.' Civard joins the long queue at the training room door, as does Jan de Visser. A hamstring injury rules him out against his old club. PROBABLE TEAMS SC Heerenveen: Vonk; Bakkati, Klompe, G. de Nooijer, Edman; Radomski (Holm), Nurmela, Lurling, Jensen; Allbäck, Denneboom (Talan) Feyenoord: Zoetebier; Emerton, Van Wonderen, De Haan, Rzasa; Elmander, Bosvelt, Ono, Smolarek; Tomasson, Van Hooijdonk
