The UEFA Youth League last sixteen tie between Feyenoord Under 19s and Chelsea Under 19s will be played on Wednesday 21 Feb...
Karim El Ahmadi says the Feyenoord squad cannot wait to take on Manchester City in Wednesday’s opening Champions League Group F fixture. ‘It’s going to happen at last, we are really up for it. And’s it’s great to start at home,’ the club captain told Feyenoord TV.
‘This match has been in the minds of the group for some time, as well as the rest of the club and the supporters,’ El Ahmadi continued. ‘We first wanted to get a win against Heracles Almelo. We did that and now we can focus on Manchester City. It’s a very attractive match and a challenge too.’
While Manchester City are world class opponents, El Ahmadi is confident Feyenoord can get a good result. ‘We have shown before that we can play well and win against big teams. So, we go into the match confident and, of course, we will enjoy it too. We have respect for our opponents, without being in awe.’
