Emil Hansson committed his immediate future to Feyenoord on Wednesday afternoon. The 18-year-old Norwegian midfielder signed a new deal with the club that runs until mid-2020.
Hansson, whose contract was set to expire in 2018, arrived at De Kuip from SK Brann in 2015. After a year with Feyenoord Under 19s he made the step-up to coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst first-team squad this season. His Eredivisie debut came in the 5-2 home win against AZ in March. He also came off the bench in the 8-0 victory against Go Ahead Eagles.
The youngster will be given the time to develop his game at Feyenoord over the next few years. ‘Emil has shown this season again that he is a player with a lot of potential,’ said technical director Martin van Geel. ‘He’s also very eager to learn, so we expect he will make further progress at De Kuip.’
