Kevin Diks will wear the Feyenoord jersey next season. The 20-year-old, who plays on the right side of defence, joins the club with immediate effect on a loan deal from Italian outfit Fiorentina. Diks came through his medical on Monday and will put his signature to a contract on Tuesday.
The Dutch Under 21s international adds to Feyenoord’s defensive options after the loss of Rick Karsdorp to AS Roma last week. ‘I’m happy we have quickly been able to compensate for Rick’s departure with Kevin’s arrival. We’ve been following him since he broke through at Vitesse. With his defensive and attacking qualities and his passion he can add value to our squad,’ said technical director Martin van Geel.
Dika’s arrival means that Feyenoord again has two options at right back. ‘That’s nice, because our aim is to have two players for every position,’ said Van Geel. ‘Kevin will have to compete with Bart Nieuwkoop for the right-back position.’
Diks spent a large part of his youth at the Vitesse academy before making his Eredivisie debut in August 2014. His made the switch to Fiorentina in the summer of 2016, but was loaned back to Vitesse in the second half of the season. Diks won the KNVB Cup with the Arnhem club at the end of April.
