Feyenoord warm up for trip to cold Kharkov

Feyenoord completed a final training session on Tuesday morning ahead of the Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk. As on Monday, both Miquel Nelom and Renato Tapia were available to head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Sven van Beek did not take part in the session.

The media were permitted into the stadium to film the first quarter of an hour of the session, for which the squad were kitted out in the special UEFA Champions League training line supplied by adidas. When the fifteen minutes were up, the media departed and Van Bronckhorst continued to drill his plans for the second away tie in the Champions league into his players behind closed doors.

The match against Shakhtar Donetsk takes place on Wednesday evening in Kharkov, where the temperature will not get much above freezing point over the next few days. In response, Feyenoord will be taking some extra winterwear on their trip to the second biggest city in Ukraine. The country’s clock is set an hour behind Dutch time, so the match will kick off at 21:45 local time.

The Feyenoord party sets off from Rotterdam The Hague Airport at 13:30 CETand is due to land three hours later in Kharkov. Van Bronckhorst and keeper Brad Jones will represent the club at the press conference at the Metalist Stadium scheduled for 18.00 CET to look ahead to the meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk.
