Feyenoord and Rick Karsdorp have reached agreement on a one-year extension to the right back’s contract. The 22-year-old put his signature to the new deal, which keeps him at the club until 2021, on Thursday afternoon.
Born in Schoonhoven, east of Rotterdam, Karsdorp joined Feyenoord as an E pupil and the new contract is his fourth pro deal with the club. Since being added to the first-team squad in the 2014-2015 season he has made 76 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord.
Like last season, Karsdorp has been a regular starter at right back in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side. That’s also where he made his Netherlands debut earlier this season. He has since played another two times for the national team.
‘Rick making his debut for the Dutch national team this season says all you need to know about the progress he’s made this season,’ says technical director Martin van Geel. ‘He has earned his reward, in the form of this renewed and improved contract. Rick has grown into an important player for Feyenoord over the past few years. We are happy that Rick also sees sufficient prospects at Feyenoord and has confirmed that by signing this contract.’
