Feyenoord and sc Heerenveen have reached agreement on the transfer of Mitchell Te Vrede to the Frisian club. The striker, who celebrates his 24th birthday on Friday, had one year left on his contract at Feyenoord. He will sign a multi-year deal with his new club.
Te Vrede arrived at Feyenoord from Excelsior in the summer of 2012 and made his bow in red and white against NAC Breda on 12 May 2013. During his two years at De Kuip he was Feyenoord’s go-to man for striking duties whenever Graziano Pellè was unavailable. Te Vrede ultimately racked up 35 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord, scoring 11 goals.
‘This has been a great step for Mitchell,’ says technical director Martin van Geel. ‘Over the past two years he has shown himself to be a good pro who is willing to learn. It’s important for him to play a lot of games and he will get that chance at Heerenveen.’
