As he did for last week’s win at FC Groningen, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has decisions to make in Saturday’s home match against Vitesse. Ridgeciano Haps, Eric Botteghin and Jan-Arie van der Heijden are the only players unavailable to the Feyenoord head coach.
Haps broke his right collarbone at Groningen last Saturday and the left back is ruled out until after the winter break.
Botteghin (cruciate ligament) and Van der Heijden (calf) are long-term absentees, but both are making progress in their rehabilitation. Botteghin recently started training outside. ‘Things are going very well with Eric, but he still hasn’t had the green light to fully train with the group. Jan-Arie is not yet ready to start training on the pitch,’ said Van Bronckhorst during his Friday afternoon press conference.
