Feyenoord and Richard Grootscholten will end their employment relationship on 1 March 2019. Grootscholten has been relieved off his duties until then, allowing him to begin his search for a new position away from the club. The reason for the departure is connected with a difference in opinion on policy. The parties have reached agreement on the premature ending of Grootscholten’s contract and have decided not to discuss the departure of the head of Feyenoord Academy in public.
Richard Grootscholten joined Feyenoord Academy in April 2016 from Zaglebie Lubin FC in Poland, where he had held the post of technical manager with responsibility for setting up a professional youth development programme in the Dutch style. He had earlier worked at Russian club Kuban Krasnodar, the Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada and Sparta Rotterdam as head of youth
Feyenoord thanks Richard Grootscholten for his efforts for the Academy. On Grootscholten’s watch, players like Tyrell Malacia, Lutsharel Geertruida, Mo el Hankouri, Dylan Vente, Wouter Burger, Orkun Kökcu and Ramon ten Hove all progressed to the Feyenoord first-team squad.
