Feyenoord will take on titleholders Sevilla FC of Spain, Standard Liege of Belgium and HNK Rijeka of Croatia in group G of the Europa League. The full 12-group, 48-team draw was made in Monaco on France’s Mediterranean coast on Friday afternoon.
Feyenoord begin group G with an away fixture in Seville on Thursday 18 September (kick off 21:05), before welcoming Standard Liege to De Kuip on Thursday 2 October. That match will get underway at 19:00.
The next fixture on the schedule is on Thursday 23 October, when Feyenoord travel to HNK Rijeka (kick off 19:00). The sides meet again at De Kuip on 6 November.
Feyenoord play at home on matchday five on Thursday 27 November, with Sevilla the guests, before wrapping up the group on 11 December with a visit to Standard Liege.
Fred Rutten feels that Feyenoord have been given a decent draw all told. ‘All opponents are tough, but we’re playing against good clubs, while we don’t have to travel too far. That’s an advantage because of the rhythm of playing on Thursday and Sunday. I feel there are possibilities.’
