Feyenoord has reached agreement with FC Basel on the immediate transfer of Jean-Paul Boëtius. The 21-year-old forward, whose contract still had a year to run, has agreed a four-year deal with the Swiss club.
Boëtius expressed his gratitude to Feyenoord for all the great years he has had at Varkenoord and De Kuip. ‘Feyenoord will always be my club. I want to thank everyone for the fantastic memories.’
Boëtius made his first team debut against Ajax on 28 October 2012 after coming through the Feyenoord Academy, which he joined as a young boy. Over the past three seasons the Rotterdammer has made 82 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord, scoring 18 goals. Boëtius made his international debut for the Dutch national team in March 2014 in a friendly against France.
