Feyenoord goalkeeper Brad Jones has been included in national coach Bert van Marwijk’s final 23-man Australia squad for Russia 2018. The former Feyenoord coach announced on Saturday evening the list of players who would be representing the Socceroos at the tournament.
Jones, who has five caps, is one of three keepers in the squad, alongside Daniel Vukovic of Belgian club KRC Genk and Mathew Ryan of Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion.
Australia won their warm-up match against Czech Republic on Friday 4-0. Jones was on the bench for that one. Hungary are the opponents in the final pre-tournament fixture on Saturday 9 June.
The Socceroos kick off their World Cup campaign a week later, on Saturday 16 June, against France. Jones and Co’s other Group C opponents are Denmark and Peru, each likely to field a Feyenoorder of their own in Nicolai Jørgensen and Renato Tapia respectively.
