Feyenoord will take on FC Groningen at de Kuip on Sunday without Robin van Persie. The captain has not fully recovered from the injury that also sidelined him two weeks ago against Heracles Almelo.
‘Robin has not been unable to train with the group today, so the match against FC Groningen has come too early for him,’ said coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst during the Friday afternoon press conference. ‘Robin is expected to join the group again after the weekend and will hopefully be able to have a good week heading towards the home match against PSV.’
Luis Sinisterra is back in group training, but he is not yet match fit. That means the Colombian will miss out on selection for Sunday, as will the suspended Jeremiah St. Juste and the injured Ridgeciano Haps, who will not be available until after the winter break.
Nicolai Jørgensen and Renato Tapia were the last two internationals to return to the 1908 complex today. Either or both could play on Sunday.
