Feyenoord looked to be on track for a third successive Eredivisie win in Tilburg on Sunday, but the hosts levelled five minutes before time. ‘We should have got over the line with the win,’ said Giovanni van Bronckhorst post-match.
The head coach felt his side was off the pace. ‘Today it was more stilted than in recent weeks,’ said Van Bronckhorst. ‘We did not hold onto the ball and had problems finding Robin [Van Persie]. But when you have the lead with not long to go, you have to protect it. We didn’t do that, so we dropped two points.’
‘You know Willem II will give it a go in the final stages, so we need to capitalise on the space they create. Tyrell made the wrong decision trying to play himself out of trouble rather than kicking it long. We cannot allow that.’
