‘The confidence is back,’ said a satisfied Feyenoord head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Friday afternoon, two days ...
Lucas Woudenberg has agreed a loan move to N.E.C. The 21-year-old defender joins the Eredivisie new boys for the rest of the season. Woudenberg is contracted to Feyenoord until mid 2017.
Woudenberg made his Feyenoord first-team debut last season in the group phase of the Europa League at Standard Liege. He also made two Eredivisie appearances, one in the away match against FC Utrecht and one in the home match against NAC Breda. The defender spent the 2013-2014 season on loan to Excelsior, a second-tier club at the time.
‘It is very important for Lucas to make appearances at the highest level,’ said technical director Martin van Geel. ‘At Feyenoord he has had to deal with a lot of competition in his position, so he has taken on the challenge at N.E.C. Lucas can develop further there, while we follow him closely. We are all confident that Lucas will return to De Kuip in the summer of 2016 with a lot of Eredivisie experience.’
