
Bringing international partners together online
Feyenoord organized the first edition of the ‘Feyenoord International Partners FIFA Tournament’ on the 2nd and 9th of May. Partners from around the globe competed against each other digitally, since physical competition is not possible in these though times. Through this tournament, Feyenoord wants to stimulate the social interaction between its partners. The tournament attracted participants from USA, Jordan and Poland. In addition, Feyenoord's eSporter also participated in the tournament.
The group stage was scheduled on Saturday 2nd of May. All participants played their other group members once. The two highest ranked players per group advanced to the knockouts, which were schedule on the 9th of May. It appeared that all participating nationalities had forced at least one spot for the knockout stage. Feyenoord Football School Jordan managed to qualify with four of their participants for the knockouts.
The knockouts started a week later, on Saturday 9th of May. The exciting knockout matches led to a final between two participants from Jordan. Osaid Hamdan, CEO of Northwood Group (Feyenoord’s partner in Jordan), took the win. The second and third place were also awarded to members of Feyenoord Football School Jordan, which resulted in a clean sweep.
