Bryan Linssen makes switch to Urawa Red Diamonds

Bryan Linssen has pledged his future to Japanese outfit Urawa Red Diamonds. Feyenoord and the J1 League club agreed the terms of a deal for the 31-year-old striker. Linssen will sign a contract for 2.5 years, starting immediately.

Feyenoord brought Linssen to De Kuip in the summer of 2020 on a free transfer from Vitesse. He scored 11 goals in his first season at the club, including in the decisive playoff for a place in the qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League, in which Feyenoord went on to reach the final last season.

In his second season at the club Linssen played an important role in reaching that final and achieving a third-place finish in the Eredivisie, netting 17 times and notching 10 assists. Linssen departs Rotterdam with 91 official appearances for Feyenoord to his name.

Technical director Frank Arnesen: ‘Bryan has always constructed his career carefully and he has repeatedly shown he can go to the next level. He did that here too. He’s not only added value on the pitch with his goals and energy. He’s also made a big, positive impression on the squad. He’s always wanted to move abroad at some point. Now this opportunity has come, we part on great terms. We naturally wish Bryan every success and all the best in Japan.’

‘By playing for Feyenoord I have realised my biggest dream,’ says Linssen. ‘The time has flown by. I look back on our performances on the pitch with a sense of pride and I will also always remember the people I have had such a great working relationship with. And of course the fans and a full De Kuip: I’m am going to miss hat hugely.’
