Dávid Hancko signs multi-year deal

Feyenoord have added Dávid Hancko to the playing squad. The 24-year-old central defender joins with immediate effect from Sparta Prague on a four-year contract that is set to keep him at De Kuip until 2026.

Hancko is delighted by the prospect of donning the red and white of Feyenoord. ‘There’s been interest for a while now, so I’m happy the clubs have reached an agreement and it feels good to be here. I’m sure this is the right time to make this move. I have done the whole of preseason and played the first few matches at Sparta Prague, so I’m fit and I’m looking forward to joining the squad soon. I hope to be able to help the team as much as possible with my qualities; it’s up to me to show what I can do on the pitch.’

Capped 22 times by Slovakia, Hancko is the left-footed defender Feyenoord have been looking for to give Arne Slot more options. Born in Prievidza, he began his career at MŠK Žilina, before signing a multi-year deal with Fiorentina in the summer of 2018. However, he’s spent two seasons on loan at Sparta Prague, who bought him outright last season. He recently made his one hundred appearance for the Czech club.

Hancko will wear the number 33 shirt at Feyenoord.
