Feyenoord agree new deal with Sinisterra through 2024

Feyenoord and Luis Sinisterra have agreed an extension to the Colombian player’s contract. Last month the club announced it would take up an option to extend the old deal until 2023. The new agreement adds a further year to that, with Sinisterra now contracted until mid-2024.

Feyenoord’s technical director Frank Arnesen has a lot of confidence in Sinisterra. ‘By recovering from his injury Luis has overcome a big setback in his still early football career. He has shown that, as well as the qualities we already know about, he also has the right mindset to realise the potential we see in him. As a club, you really want to tie down players like this for a long period. By taking up the option in the old contract and now extending with this new contract we’ve managed that. We believe that we have a bright future ahead of us with Luis.’

Sinisterra joined Feyenoord in 2018 from Colombian outfit Once Caldas, signing a three-year deal with an option to extend for a further two years. Feyenoord triggered that option in November and this, in combination with the new deal, ties Sinisterra to the club until mid-2024.

The 21-year-old, a fan favourite, returned to action mid-December after spending 10 months out with an injury. Since the winter break, he’s netted twice in five matches in Eredivisie and KNVB Cup, including the winner in the league against PEC Zwolle.
