Feyenoord sign keeper Ofir Marciano

Feyenoord have added a new goalkeeper to the squad in the shape of Ofir Marciano. The 31-year-old arrives on a free transfer from Scottish club Hibernian. Marciano has agreed a two-season deal with the club, running until mid-2023.
Technical director Frank Arnesen is delighted to have signed the experienced Israeli. ‘After the departure of Nick Marsman, among others, we went in search of a goalie to strengthen the team of keepers and the squad immediately. Ofir can not only come in immediately if that’s needed, he also has the experience we wanted. He proved his reliability and value for years at his previous club. We are confident that he will be able to take on that role at Feyenoord.’

Marciano says that he is proud to make the switch to Feyenoord. ‘This is such a big club. I look forward to showing what I can do here and want to be important for Feyenoord. And I cannot wait to greet the fans in a full stadium.’

Israeli international Marciano, who has 27 caps to his name, graduated from FC Ashdod’s youth academy into the first team in 2008. He moved to Belgian side Royal Excel Mouscron in 2015 and then on to Hibernian on loan. In his first season at the Hibees he helped the club get promoted to the Premier League, earning himself a permanent deal. He racked up 150 appearances for the club, which finished third in the league last season.

Ofir Marciano has been handed the number 21 shirt at Feyenoord. He will arrive at the club as soon as practicable.
