Feyenoord sign midfielder Fredrik Aursnes

Fredrik Aursnes has sealed a move to Feyenoord. The 25-year-old midfielder joins from Norwegian club Molde FK, arriving on a three-year contract that ties him to De Kuip until mid-2024.
‘After recently being able to strengthen our attack and defence, in Fredrik we are now bringing in a defensive midfielder who’s been high on our list for quite a while now, but was previously not feasible for us,’ said technical director Frank Arnesen. ‘Among other things, Fredrik is strong in hunting down and winning the ball and has a very good pass. With his qualities he can provide even more balance in the team, and we expect he will really be able to add value for us.’

Aursnes himself is delighted that he can call himself a Feyenoord player from now on. ‘This is a really great step for me. The way the club plays and the fans here appeal to me. I’m hugely looking forward to playing for Feyenoord and I’m very enthusiastic to be here.’

Starting his career at amateur club Hareid IL, Aursnes graduated to the professional ranks when he joined IL Hødd. In 2016 he was picked up by Molde FK. He went on to make 192 appearances for the Eliteserien outfit, scoring 20 goals and claiming 32 assists. He won a Norwegian championship medal with the club in 2019 and made his Norway debut in June this year.

Aursnes will hook up with the club this week and join the rest of the squad soon. He will wear the number 17 shirt.
