Feyenoord take talented striker Reiss Nelson on loan

Feyenoord have managed to reinforce their attacking options by securing the services of Reiss Nelson for the rest of the season. The 21-year-old English youth international joins the club on loan from Premier league outfit Arsenal.

Frank Arnesen said Nelson is a welcome addition to the squad. ‘We’ve been following Reiss for months now. Bringing him to Feyenoord in this transfer window was one of our priorities, so we are very happy that we’ve managed that and that we are able to welcome him today. Reiss is a very creative striker, a rapid boy, good with his feet, who makes things very difficult for defenders in one-on-ones. We can really use a player like that in our forward line.’

‘I’m looking forward to playing in this fabulous stadium,’ said Nelson. ‘Feyenoord is a great club and a nice challenge for me. I hope that I’ll be able to give the fans something to cheer about soon.’

Nelson has spent virtually his whole footballing life at Arsenal. He joined the North London club’s youth academy aged nine and made his first-team debut at 17.

Nelson will join the first-team squad with immediate effect and has been given the number 14 shirt.
