Feyenoord’s eSporters win in Japan

Jimmy Donkers and Jaey Daalhuisen beat the world-class Urawa Red Diamonds on Thursday. Feyenoord’s eSporters won two of the three FIFA 18 rubbers against their Japanese colleagues in the special showcase in Tokyo.

After losing the opening rubber, Jaey and Jimmy levelled the match in the second. The Feyenoorders took the penalties better than their Japanese opponents in the doubles contest. Jimmy then went on to win the third rubber to secure overall victory for the Dutch duo.

The eSports contest was held on the main stage at the Tokyo Game Show, one of the world’s biggest for gamers. ‘It was an unbelievable experience,’ said Jaey Daalhuisen. ‘Such an enthusiastic audience, lots of media interest and a great atmosphere.’
