Fourth Feyenoord Camp in Lithuania a resounding success

From the 1st till 5th of July 2019, Feyenoord’s International Development coaches Luka Lalić, David Toxopeus and former player Robin Nelisse conducted a Feyenoord Camp in Lithuani's historical capital of Trakai. 85 youngsters from different regions in Lithuania participated in the football camp, which was aimed at improving the players’ abilities on a personal level in a fun and challenging environment under the watchful eyes of Feyenoord coaches.

The Feyenoord camp was given an international colour by the participation of Lithuanian children hailing from the USA, Australia, Sweden, Norway and Spain. The facilities of the Trasalis Hotel and Spa Resort provided the players with a fun way to relax after the intensive training sessions.

Six young Lithuanian coaches assisted the Feyenoord staff during the camp along with former Lithuanian national team player Andrius Gedgaudas, who currently is a personal football coach with an UEFA A License. Andrius, who was elected to best player in the Lithuanian A Lyga back in 2004, provided valuable expertise and experience which proved to be incredibly useful by providing the talents with an unique view on developing themselves.

Local organiser of the camp, Augustinas Kubiliunas, praised the commitment of everyone involved. ‘I want to thank Luka, David and Robin for coming to Lithuania and doing their hard work. Their devotion made the camp a true success. It was a privilege for all of the kids and their parents to participate in such a professional event with such passionate coaches. We are extremely happy that the Feyenoord Camp is gaining such recognition here in Lithuania and more kids want to sign up every year. We have already started planning for next summer! So, I really want to thank all the people from Feyenoord's International Department for this great partnership that is helping Lithuanian football progress.'

The Feyenoord Football Camp in Lithuania was held on a great location with high end accommodation where a lot of extra activities were organised. While the players were training, the parents were also trained by participating in the sport psychology seminar given by experienced sports psychologist Andriy Liachovičius. He taught the parents how to effectively guide their kids from youth to adult athlete.

Feyenoord’s International Relations Manager, Gido Vader, is very pleased with the collaboration. ‘We have been building the relationship in Lithuania for four years now and every year we are pleasantly surprised by the level of commitment of our partners as well as that of the kids.We look forward to further successful collaboration in the future.'
