Frank Arnesen extends Feyenoord stay

Feyenoord and Frank Arnesen have reached an agreement in principle on a one-year contract extension. It means that Arnesen, who has been in post as technical director at Feyenoord since January 2020, will remain at De Kuip until at least mid-2023.

The 65-year-old Arnesen says he could not have imagined a better outcome of the discussions between the two parties over the past few weeks. ‘Of course it’s nice to extend my time at Feyenoord. There’s a very pleasant working relationship with the technical staff, scouting and all other colleagues at the club, in which we continue to build solid footballing foundations, step by step. We are doing something great that is slowly but surely bearing fruit and I would like to advance that process even further than we have already come.’

General manager Dennis te Kloese is also happy that Feyenoord and Arnesen have agreed to continue the work they have started. ‘For two years now Frank has been working hard to establish a technical framework and to simplify and improve structures. We are delighted with the advancements that have been made, but the most important step in the process is naturally still to come: Feyenoord must benefit from these positive changes. We will take up that challenge over the coming time and bearing in mind the developments up till now, we are certain that Frank is the right man to continue to lead that process as the person with final technical responsibility.’
