Fredrik Bjørkan makes Feyenoord loan switch

Fredrik Bjørkan will wear Feyenoord colours this season after the club agreed a loan deal with the Norwegian left back and his present employer Hertha BSC. The deal includes a purchase option clause.

Fredrik, who was at De Kuip to watch the Eredivisie fixture against FC Emmen, is looking forward to pulling on a Feyenoord shirt. ‘Before my arrival I spoke about Feyenoord with Marcus Pedersen and Fredrik Aursnes and they said only positive things about the club, the stadium and the fans. The brilliant atmosphere was very tangible last Saturday and I hope to experience it on the pitch soon. I feel ready to play and contribute to this team.’

Bjørkan made his first-team debut for Bodø/Glimt in April 2016, after coming through the club’s youth system. He went on to make 136 official appearances for the Norwegian Eliteserien side, winning national titles in 2020 and 2021. At his hometown club Bjørkan developed into a modern left back who likes to get forward at every opportunity, which allows him to add value in both the offensive and defensive line. He signed a deal with Hertha BSC at the start of the year, clocking up 10 official appearances for the German Bundesliga side in the second half of last season. Son of Aasmund Bjørkan, who played football professionally too, Fredrik was awarded his first Norway cap in 2021 and has now played six times for his country.

At Feyenoord Bjørkan will play in the number 5 shirt.
