Joris van Dijk Feyenoord’s new commercial director
Van Dijk, who starts work at De Kuip on 1 July, fills the vacancy left by former commercial director Mark Koevermans, who was appointed Feyenoord’s managing director in November. Commenting on Van Dijk’s appointment, Koevermans said: ‘I’m happy that Joris is strengthening our management team in these challenging times’.
‘In his current job, but also previously, among other things as marketing and sales director at Staatsloterij, Koevermans has shown an extreme focus on results. He also has a significant amount of entrepreneurial spirit and the energy and enthusiasm to pilot, along with all colleagues, Feyenoord first through these challenging times and then to guide it back to growth.’
Van Dijk also spoke about his appointment. ‘I still love being managing director of Madurodam. But when Feyenoord comes calling it’s obviously hard or in my case impossible to say no. These are challenging times for football, but anyone who knows me knows I never run away from that. In fact, it only gives me more energy. We’ll certainly have to be inventive, innovative and creative commercially now and over the coming years, in order to create the (financial) conditions in which football can run at an optimal profit. That has to happen, it will happen. I’m convinced of that.’
