Keeper Nick Marsman set for Feyenoord move

Since making his professional debut in 2011, Marsman has played for FC Twente, Go Ahead Eagles and FC Utrecht, where he was part of the squad that won last season’s playoffs to secure a place in the second qualifying round of this season’s Europa League. Marsman has 114 Eredivisie appearances to his name, and has also represented the Dutch Under 21s.

‘After loaning out Rámon Ten Hove to FC Dordrecht and particularly the departure of Joris Delle, we wanted to add an experienced goalkeeper to our squad to bring the keepers’ team back up to full strength,’ explained technical director Sjaak Troost. ‘We have found the reinforcement we wanted in the shape of Nick. He is a real professional and during the playoffs with his former club he recently showed that he can come straight in if needed.’

Head coach Jaap Stam in turn said: ‘It’s nice that the club has been able to bring in a new keeper quickly after the departure of two keepers. His experience, keeping qualities and footballing ability make him a welcome addition. Plus Nick shows the drive to be competitive with the other three keepers to ensure they can constantly get the best out of each other.’

Very proud
‘From the outside I’ve always seen Feyenoord as a fantastic, big club,’ said Marsmaan about the deal. ‘I am very proud to have the opportunity to experience it from the inside. The good talks with the people at the club have made me even more enthusiastic. At this club I can gauge myself and continue to develop every day at the very highest level in the Netherlands.’
