Luis Sinisterra seals Leeds United transfer

Feyenoord and Leeds United have reached agreement on the transfer of Luis Sinisterra to the Premier league side. The 23-year-old striker leaves De Kuip with immediate effect. Sinisterra was contracted to Feyenoord until mid-2024.
Sinisterra’s development has been impressive since joining Feyenoord from Colombian outfit Once Caldas in the summer of 2018. The De Kuip crowd quickly got on board, composing a song – ‘Que Sí, Que No, Que Luis Sinisterra’ – to celebrate the exploits of a graceful and fleet-footed striker.

Sinisterra has proven valuable to Feyenoord for both his goals and his assists. Not least in the Europa Conference League, a competition in which he scored 11 times, helping propel Feyenoord into the final. And though he didn’t pick up a winner’s medal, he was named the UECL’s Young Player of the Season and picked in the tournament’s team of the year.

His performances at Feyenoord were also noted in his homeland, culminating in an international callup in 2019. Sinisterra now has five Colombia caps to his name.

‘After leaving Colombia for a European adventure I could not have wished to find a better place than Feyenoord,’ said a grateful Sinisterra, who says he felt very much at home in Rotterdam. ‘I was helped and trusted by everyone: from the people I was with on and around the pitch every day up to the club management. I needed that to return from my injury stronger and to grow into the footballer I have become. I am hugely grateful to everyone for that. Because of the fans it felt such a lift every time I entered the field. I’m going to massively miss lots of things, but I have many more great memories that will stay with me forever.’

Sinisterra leaves Feyenoord after four seasons in which he made 113 official appearances and was directly involved in 64 goals, netting 35 times and claiming 29 assists. The club thanks him for his wonderful time in Rotterdam and wishes him every success at Leeds United in the Premier League.
