Malacia makes Manchester United switch

Feyenoord have reached agreement with Manchester United on the transfer of Tyrell Malacia. The 22-year-old Feyenoord Academy graduate had a contract in Rotterdam until mid-2024, but the left-back will now wear the red and white of the 20-time English champions next season.
Malacia was one of the standout players at Feyenoord last term, starting almost every match. In doing so, he played a big part in the run to the Europa Conference League final. His solid game and defensive qualities earned him a callups to the Dutch national side.

Born and bred in the shadow of De Kuip in Rotterdam’s Hillesluis neighbourhood, Malacia is proud to have secured a switch to one of the world’s most famous clubs and a shot at the Premier League. ‘I’m looking forward to getting started at a new club over the next few weeks and playing at Old Trafford, but I’m going to miss being here too. The home matches at De Kuip. The love I’ve always been shown by the fans and the people at Feyenoord. It’s really strange to leave the club I’ve been at since I was eight years old, where I grew from a boy into man. But I’m leaving here by the front gate full of pride and great memories.’

Malacia began his career at RVV DHZ and Overmaas, where he was quickly picked up by Feyenoord. Joining the Feyenoord Academy in 2008, he advanced through all the age groups at Varkenoord, graduating to the Feyenoord first team in 2017. He made his debut aged 18 in December 2017 in a thrilling Champions League tie at De Kuip against Napoli, which Feyenoord won 2-1. In total the left-footed Malacia represented the club 136 times, winning two trophies: the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2018.

Feyenoord wishes Malacia every success in Manchester!
