Marcos Senesi makes Premier League switch

Marcos Senesi has agreed terms on a transfer to English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth. With the central defender’s move across the channel in preparation, Senesi was not selected for Feyenoord’s 5-2 win at Vitesse in the weekend’s Eredivisie opener.
‘Saying farewell to Feyenoord is very emotional,’ says Senesi. ‘Feyenoord was my first club in Europe and I have always felt very much at home in Rotterdam. I have been on a great journey with the club and the fans and experienced some fantastic times. Not least due to our performances in Europe last season. I came to Rotterdam with that goal three years ago and I’m still happy with that choice. Playing at Feyenoord has boosted my development and enriched my life enormously. So I’m hugely grateful to everyone at this club and the loyal fans.’

Senesi arrived at Feyenoord from Argentina side San Lorenzo in the summer of 2019, signing a four-year deal on the last day of the transfer window. The left-sided central defender became a first team regular in recent years, garnering praise for his solid defensive qualities. All told Senesi made 116 competitive appearances for Feyenoord. He also chipped in up front with some final goals. And Senesi’s progress at Feyenoord did not go unnoticed in his homeland: he made his Argentina debut in a friendly against Estonia in June.

Marcos Senesi is the third player to leave Feyenoord for the Premier League this summer. Last month saw Tyrell Malacia contracted by Manchester United and Luis Sinisterra sign a deal with Leeds United.

Feyenoord wishes Marcos Senesi lots of success in England.
