Not a lot to get excited about in FC Twente friendly

Feyenoord’s second preseason ended goalless on Sunday. The hosts and FC Twente were unable to create too much of a threat in front of goal at De Kuip, where the sides also had to contend with tropical temperatures.

Feyenoord were unable to replicate their dynamic start against Sparta seven days earlier. The hosts began slowly, with little threat and few chances early on. Bart Nieuwkoop did create openings for his teammates with a couple of probing passes. Both Marouan Azarkan and Jens Toornstra were put through on the keeper, but the finish was lacking on each occasion.

Nick Marsman was alert at the other end, denying Queensy Menig the opening goal when he tipped a shot from distance onto the bar.

Advocaat changed eight of his eleven at the break, but it had little effect on the field. It was only in the final stages that Feyenoord managed to pin the visitors back, although they probably did not do enough to deserve a goal. FC Twente were also fairly pedestrian going forward, so a goalless draw was the logical result.

Cup of Traditions
Next up for Dick Advocaat’s side is a trip to Germany where Feyenoord will take part in the Cup of Traditions alongside Borussia Dortmund and hosts MSV Duisburg. Three one-hour matches (two halves of 30 minutes) will be played between the sides on the same day at the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena. The two German sides open proceedings, before Feyenoord join the party. First up for Feyenoord will be Borussia Dortmund (16:45 CET), with MSV Duisburg lined up in the second match (18:00 CET).

Both Feyenoord’s matches will be broadcast live, allowing fans to watch in the Netherlands. Keep an eye on the official club channels for more details as they are announced.
