PAOK punish Feyenoord errors to edge 2-1 win

Feyenoord’s second game in four days ended in disappointment at De Kuip on Sunday. After the goalless draw at FC Drita on Thursday, the hosts went down 2-1 to Greek side PAOK Saloniki.

The game started well for Feyenoord, with Wouter Burger giving his side the lead on two minutes. After a short corner, there was some confusion in the box and the ball ended up going into the net rather fortuitously off the back of Burger’s head.

The Greek Super League 1 outfit wasted little time getting level though and it came from the penalty spot. The clock was on 14 minutes when Marcos Senesi put Justin Bijlow in all sorts of danger with a back pass and the keeper ended up giving away the spot kick as he tried to mop up.

A second followed for the visitors in the second half. Ofir Marciano – on for Bijlow at the start of the second half – failed to gather a Greek shot and the rebound was netted. It would prove to be the winning goal.

Next up for Feyenoord is the second leg of the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League against FC Drita at De Kuip (kick-off 20:00 CET). The winner advances to the third qualifying round, where Swiss side FC Luzern await.
