Róbert Bozeník signs for Feyenoord

Feyenoord have completed the signing of Róbert Bozeník. The Slovak put his signature to a four-and-a-half-year contract today at De Kuip.

The negotiations with the 20-year-old were wrapped up on Friday, with a successful medical following on Saturday. After a quick trip to his homeland to collect some personal effects, Bozenik returned to Rotterdam to sign his contract and meet the press.

Róbert Bozeník clocked up 58 appearances for MSK Zilina in the Slovakian Fortuna Liga, scoring 19 goals. The striker made his debut for Slovakia at the tender age of 19. He’s already netted four times in eight appearances for the Slovenskí sokoli, as the national team are known.

Technical director Frank Arnesen expressed his delight at landing Bozeník. ‘Róbert’s arrival gives us more options offensively. He is young but he’s a big prospect who we’ll give time to grow and develop here.’

There were plenty of competitors with a strong interest in Bozeník, so the signing is quite a coup for Feyenoord. ‘We are glad that Róbert has very consciously chosen Feyenoord and we have managed to secure his services for a long time, with the cooperation and support of all sections of the club.’

The centre forward, who will wear the number 19 jersey, is unavailable for Tuesday’s cup tie at Fortuna Sittard. Under the KNVB’s regulations, new signings cannot be added to the match-day squad for games that are resumed after an abandonment.
