Steven Berghuis leaving Feyenoord

Steven Berghuis is set to end his five-year stay at Feyenoord. The 29-year-old forward, who still had a year to run at De Kuip on his existing contract, had decided to sign for Ajax. The last formalities are expected to be ironed out very soon.

Berghuis arrived at Feyenoord in the summer of 2016 on loan from English outfit Watford. After helping win the Dutch title that season, he made his move permanent. Berghuis also won the KNVB Beker with Feyenoord in 2018, as well as two Johan Cruijff Shields.

Club captain for the past two seasons, Berghuis made 199 official appearances for Feyenoord in his five years at the club. In that time he scored 87 goals and claimed 64 assists.

Feyenoord thanks Steven Berghuis for everything he has done for the club.
